Throwing Mud

Throwing Mud is a video work that, following on from Process Omitted, considers the raw material of clay. Clay plays a prominent role in our daily lives, it is in the sinks we wash our hands in, the toilets that remove our waste and the cup we drink our tea from. I have never really considered how clay is made. I know it comes from the ground, but how does it go from a pile of earth to the lump of clay?

To demonstrate this gap in knowledge I attempted to throw mud on a pottery wheel. Apart for sifting out large rocks that would make throwing painful, all integral processes need to make clay are omitted.
